Every year in the month of May, Le Salon International du Design de Montréal hosts a mega showcase for design professionals and the public. This year’s showcase was held at Place Bonaventure from May 24th until the 26th. While the kiosks and presentations were impressive as usual, one Montreal startup, ABNORMstudio, stole the show by claiming three prizes for their innovative product the HUBkit. Intrigued by the HUBkit, I interviewed Aboudi Hassoune, founder of ABNORMstudio to get more insight on their new innovative product:
Neighbourhoods will fall in and out of favour depending on their degree of compatibility with the modern lifestyle. I have identified four factors which I believe to be influential in the neighbourhood desirability shifts that will occur in the coming years. These four factors are: architectural character, accessibility to public transit, size/divisibility of dwellings, and proximity to the city centre. If homebuyers analyze neighbourhoods based on these factors prior to purchasing, they will be more likely to make sound long-term real estate investments.
It’s perfectly alright to want to keep your children safe, but when schools start measuring the body mass index of kids and carefully count the calories they eat, we’re going too far, I think. This should be the parents’ responsibility; schools should focus on providing good education, that is, food for thought, and leave it at that. Anything above and beyond that is social engineering.
We might not be aware of it, but there are many little details, if observed throughout the date, which can tell us what type of man we are dealing with. Therefore I ask, how can we distinguish the good men from the bad ones on a first date? How can we know if he’s a keeper or a creeper?
The rich universes in which all our favorite science fiction and fantasy franchises take place, whether it be Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings or Battlestar Galactica, may be fantastical but all have a grounding in the human condition and tend to bring out the best in both our characters and those of the fans who hold them in such high esteem.
The impact of both writers was not entirely because of what they said. Popper provided a striking individual technique in showing the fallacies of Marxist and Freudian reasoning. Bloom gave a highly condensed, and very entertaining, summary of almost all the underlying discontents that historically-informed and even moderately literate adults have been bound to have about mass democracy, and the mass expansion of 'higher' education that has gone with it.
This spring, be creative and bold with your style. Also, try some pretty prints whether its florals or simple prints, don't hesitate to combine them with textured solids. The clothes we wear represent who we are. They portray our taste and our style. So my advice to you is to be fierce, be bold, be creative, be unique but most of all be real
